What's your secret?

Baby Daddy

01/25/2011

I know my child's father. People look at me when I say that I'm a single mom and that the father isn't involved and sometimes they make this face. It's kind of a cross between a look of disgust and a sarcastic smirk. Like they just think I was slutting it up one night and don't know who her father really is.
The truth is, he asked me not to tell anyone. Specifically his parents, I'm guessing because he didn't want to disappoint them.
I kind of want to have a friend get him passed out drunk,, sneak a mouth swab out of the jerk and send his parents the DNA results anonymously.
...

And video tape the reactions.

What kind of a man produces a child and then asks you to keep it a secret from his parents and everyone. It's almost like he regrets or is embarrassed by having a child. Is he on the birth certificate? If so and depending on how much he has to do with the child maybe you should look into getting support from him.

At the end of the day, he helped you make this child, he is supposed to be a grown up. People have done way much worse things, it's not like anyone has died!

He needs to suck it up and accept he has become a father. A child should, if possible, have both parents in their life.

It has nothing to do if he is involved or not. That support is that childs right and as a mother she needs to do everything in her power to get support for him for her child.

The other major factor as I said though is the birth certificate. If the father isn't on it, without a DNA test, there is nothing that can be done. If he refuses a DNA test and isn't on the certificate, she doesn't stand a chance of proving he is the father, therefore not entitled to anything from him.

There is ways and means of sorting this out, legally, but unfortuanutly people who the "Father" doesn't want to know, would find out.

I hope the poster can sort this as you are right, the child does deserve everything from both parents. It take 2 to make a baby!

She needs to file with child support who will set up a court hearing and force a DNA test. He needs to grow up. Why any woma would agree to letting him skate on his responsibility with a HUMAN LIFE is beyond me. As a mother (and father) your needs and wants are no longer importnant its your childs that are important for her to not even attempt to get support from him is robbing her child and its very selfish of BOTH of them.

Precisley. As a mother also, I would want my child to know his father (if I wasn't with him) And I would expect help since he donated the sperm! Being a parent is about giving a child everything you can to make sure they have the best life possible.

UK child support law pursues the alleged father regardless of a birth cert and he has to pay for a DNA test if he contests paternity. CSA is awesome in this country!

Hes not a man IMO cuz of his parents? He needs to grow up I agree with the first commenter

Yeah, he sounds like a jerk.

[Aubrey;Star|0 likes] [|reply]

Wtf? That's cruel of him to do this.♥

a baby isn't a dirty little secret and I would not have agreed to that. He needs to be a man and take responsibility.

[Greta GarbageStar|0 likes] [|reply]

why on earth would you keep it a secret to begin with?

[brooke !|0 likes] [|reply]

Wow... that I would pay to see. lol

What concerns me more is that he doesn't want his own parents to know. How disrespectful of him to not even give them a chance to know their own grandchild!

[Mommy_Bunny|0 likes] [|reply]

He sounds very immature. And apart from that he should be giving you financial support at the very least. He doesn't want to disappoint his parents? What a lame excuse. If I was his dad and found out why he kept this a secret that's when I would be very disappointed in him.

I would just tell them, he cant deny it forever. Your child has a right to know the other grandparents. I am a single mother and when people ask me about the father I just say he isn't in the picture. I haven't thankfully ever been given judgemental looks because of it. Usually I get the opposite and people respect me more because I took this on all by myself and want nothing from the father. I don't care about him and he doesnt care about us. We are perfectly fine without him.

Cruel of him? Grow some balls and call him out! Geez! Your poor kid!

Completely agree with you Steve!!!!!!! I couldn't have said it better myself.

i know what you mean by getting those disgusted looks because of the situation. whenever i have to tell my friends that i don't know my biological dad and my other sisters each have a different dad, i get the look too.

I'm curious to know the age of the entry writer. If she's just a kid, I can understand why he wouldn't want them knowing. Not saying he's not a douchebag, but it makes me wonder how much of continuing the pregnancy was up to him.

[Emily the StrangeStar|0 likes] [|reply]

I don't think it matters on how much of the pregnancy is up to him. He created the child; therefore, he should be supporting her and the child.

However, if she chose this, and is allowing this than she chose this on her own. I mean if she agreed to hiding it from his family as well.

Before she agreed to it she should have sought legal counsel and advice from someone a little wiser.

He did partially create the child, but if he doesn't want it, wants nothing to do with it, why should he pay for it? If it takes two to make a baby, it should take two to decide how to care for it and who takes care of it- not just one.

I'm with you. It doesn't seem to me like the author particularly wants him around, either...

get a court order DNA test. his parents never need to know (unless hes underage that is)

[spanna|0 likes] [|reply]

you should just serve him with papers. The courts will make him take the DNA test.

[Mommy2Aiden|0 likes] [|reply]

Who cares if he doesnt want anyone to know... Child support is a must. Why should you have to take on the responsiblity of a child by yourself when he helped to create the child?
