sorry it took a whole day to update. thanks for all the good wishes from ya'll. it really worked! he ended up calling me from a pay phone shortly after i posted that last entry. turns out he went to the casino.. figures.. he got an earful once he got in the house. believe me! but he was ok and so im glad about that.
