I was on Instagram for awhile, it was a few years ago. I quit about a year ago and I can confirm that I have never regretted that decision. Luckily I didn't have any bad experiences there. I've heard of ppl having struggles with it, but nothing bad happened to me. I just felt that it took too much time and it was too hard to get followers, also that people tended not to follow back easily. I was never spending much time on it, but I could see that the little time I did have on it was wasted time that I could have happily used for other things.
Also, for privacy reasons, there were a lot of photos that I didn't really want to put up, since it had too much identifying information. So this left me at a loss for photos to use! If you are looking for pics for Instagram but don't want to use your own photos, it helps if you can find a source of photos you can safely and legally use on Instagram.
I'm glad I quit though. There is so much more to life than whether someone saw or liked your photo, and I want to be out there doing my own stuff, not getting all wrapped up in what my Instagram images look like.
