Too many miles to everywhere

12/12/2010

I hate the cold. All the bones that were broken in the accident ache. The high today was 17. And B asked me this morning if I would please go with him to measure a church for carpet. Since he said "please" I went. The church was so far out in the boonies I kept asking him if he was sure we were going the right way. We were. About 12 miles off the main highway we turned right onto dirt and rock road. We passed a few big trucks, a few were farm trucks and a few were log trucks. The log trucks really freak me out, I am always expecting the logs to break loose and crush me. Especially on such a narrow road and when I am behind them, they are never secured or stacked well.

About 5 miles down the rock road we started seeing a few scattered houses, as we came over the hill we saw the church. It was a white clapboard building, obviously Victorian Gothic with the pointed stained glass windows and tall bell tower which appeared to be boarded up. The entire church needed repainted but the saddest part was the 50's era brick building that was added on the North side. It was complete and total opposite of the Norman Rockwell original structure.

B got the job but it won't be until after New Years. We need the money NOW. Doesn't look like there will be gifts exchanged here Christmas but we will have a nice dinner. I know B feels bad. He knows I have never lived so poorly. And I never have. We are both dreaming of the day we can get moved up North and have opportunity.

The lady is coming to look at this place next Saturday. I hope she loves what she sees. I have sent her tons of pictures and she says she can't wait to see it in person. I hope she whips the checkbook out. I'm ready to go.
The house we went to look at isn't going anywhere. We were going to make an offer but decided to wait till we have this sold. Just makes more sense. And our realtor there said no one has looked at it in 4 months that its been on the market. They are scared of the size of the house, cost of renovations and utility bills. We will do the same thing we did at the mansion. Shut parts of the house off that aren't in use during the winter months. And we will get a wood stove for the main area of the house. Renovations don't scare me, I know it will take a couple years to get it done. The mansion took 4 and the entire time we were scared to start something new due to the paranormal activity that seemed to go hand in hand with it.

Been trying to get a few things done here. I have WAY too much shit stored in this place. We went to 1/4 of the square footage we had and we sold an entire big honkin truck load at auction before we left. Thursday I went to Aldi and needed some paint from Home Depot. 68 miles one way. Yeah, I'm ready to leave the forest.

17 degrees, miles from nowhere and money is tight. things have got to go up from here DLB . hang on , spring is coming, and the other house probably wont move like you said. Godd thing you got rid of alot of your stuff at auction, so you dont have to dick with it moving it around and all. good luck .

wow...our low is 17 degrees. it's good that you were able to do away with some of your stuff at the auction before you left.
