happy new year!
i've been off for a week, and i am absolutely dreading going back to work in the morning.
kelly and con were here for new years, and it was delightful. low-key, somewhat lazy, but fantastic. con is an absolute gem. he's funny, intelligent, kind, and fucking hot. kelly, as always, is beautiful and all smiles. i really like them as a couple. it was really nice to spend a few days with them.
i showed kelly my corsets yesterday, and got her help adjust them, and give her opinion on the pros and cons of strapless vs. halter. when she told me "your boobs look so great! they look fake!" it pretty much sealed the deal on the side of the black halter corset.
kelly gave me a remote shutter release for my fancypants new dslr [which should be here on the 4th], so i'm planning to take lots of self-shots, possibly utilizing the lingerie that i don't wear at my professional shoot. or i'll just take self-portraits for the fun of it. lord knows there aren't enough photos of me that i've taken myself.
kelly and con left around 1 this afternoon, and i spent the afternoon lazing about on the couch, watching the first season of the oc. what a great way to spend the first day of the new year.
for anyone keeping up with my uncle's surgery, he ended up having it the night of the 28th. they started at 6 pm or so, and went till 4:30 am. they took out more cancer than they thought would be there, and the pathology reports have come back saying that what is left is microscopic and should be easily knocked out with radiation. my mom finally spoke to him last night, and he's doing really, really well. first and foremost, his spirits are way up [as opposed to the understandably weighed-down headspace i witnessed on boxing day]. secondly, all the things he'd been warned about seem to have been a "worst-case scenario". he is deaf on the right side, and some of his face is numb, but he said the balance issue isn't nearly as bad as he had expected, and he's in almost no pain [controlled with tylenol]. the skin they grafted from this thigh is only about an inch wide by 10 inches long. he has drains in his leg and his head, but they've already begun working them out. he was up walking with a walker as of yesterday, and physio told him they'd likely take the walker away from him today and see how he does. hopefully he'll be out by the end of the week! he'll have to return for the radiation, whenever they've decided he's appropriately healed from the surgery, but being in the hospital under 2 weeks is a long cry from the 4 they'd prepared him for. to anyone who kept my uncle and my family in their thoughts or prayers, i say a huge thank you. the positivity and support really helped me, and him, and will continue to help thruout his treatment, i'm sure. thank you. so much love. |
