joshua and i went up north to visit his family and our friends for a week. overall, it was a wonderful trip. i got to visit with lindsay and her boys, which was great. we also went to the wedding of our friends while we were up there, and i got to meet a bunch of josh's high school friends, which was nice.
most of the trip was spent with josh's family, which was mostly decent. his mother still... well, if i can't say anything nice i'd rather say nothing at all. (that's a lie - she hates me, and the feeling's pretty mutual, tho i don't tell josh that "every word she says makes me want to punch her in the face"; i've got more class than that.)
his parents' house on the lake is really coming along, and i'm guessing should be completed next summer. now that the exterior walls are all up, and the roof is on, it will be easier to do interior things (plumbing, electrical, finishing) thru the winter. last visit, we left feeling like we hadn't taken advantage of the lake, so this time we were out at the lot every day. we went fishing a few times - i was ridiculously overjoyed when i caugh my first fish, then several more. we were out in the boat, or on the seadoo, or just floating in the lake as often as we could be. they had a party for us on the sunday, and it was nice to see everyone from the "lake family" (even if i'm certain josh's mother only put it together so she wasn't completely shown up by the amazing wedding reception we had here at my mom's).

josh and i had a great day today. we went to the ballgame. i got a free water from my street meat guy, pre-game. we got free duffle bags as we entered the stadium - they were today's giveaway. we scammed great seats - 100 levels, third base side, in the shade. joshua won a phone-in trivia game - which got him a free golf shirt and a $50 gift card for boston pizza, plus some time on the jumbotron with some babes. sadly, the jays lost, but we went to bp for free dinner afterward. it was a fun impromptu date day. |
