i can't even explain how great yesterday was. it was random and wonderful and perfect. honestly will go down in my memory as one of my favourite days ever.
no one will understand or care what was so fantastic, but trust me.
- first off, it was strasmas!
- decided last-minute to bail on work for the baseball game. went in at 8 like always, emailed the boss to leave early. took off at 11.
- changed my clothes, hit the subway, arrived perfectly for game time.
- got a polish from my guy, and he recognised me! i've wondered the last few times, based on his smirk, but this time he actually called me out on being at the game monday night, and asked where my friend was. this gave me a strange sense of accomplishment.
- met up with zuber and zach inside. i had a cheap seat, they had lower bowl. an usher checked our tickets right off, and i straight up copped to having a 500 level ticket but wanting to sit with my friends. she said i could stay for one inning, till it started getting crazy busy. i took off after an inning and a half.
- found even better seats. no kids around [a million schools were there as end of the year trips and whatnot], in the shade, third base side. texted the guys and they came to join me in the 4th.
- zuber pointed out i was sitting 3 seats from daryn jones, a canadian on-air personality [formerly mtv, now cbc], on whom i have had a crush for literally more than 10 years. he was wearing a wedding ring - i had no idea he was married.
- throughly enjoyed the baseball game. i love the jays, but let's be real; i didn't go to see them win, i went to see strasburg pitch, and bryce harper play. 6-2 final.
- after spending the day talking about "bros" with the boys - including spending a full inning talking about "bromenclature" and re-naming all the players "bro names" [brose brotista, yan bromes, etc.] - we decided to hit up a "bro bar" and settled on the bp just in front of the dome on front, to watch the second half of the germany/netherlands match. many drinks ensued.
- while sitting and drinking, we were approached by our usher from earlier, who had kicked me out of the section. i'll remind you that she was just doing her job, i literally did not have a ticket, nor did i try to argue with her because she was entirely in the right. she apologised profusely, at least thrice, for kicking me out and "being a bitch". i assured her it was no worries. she apologised again before leaving the bar. only in canada...
- we drank for 4+ hours, finishing out the soccer game, then watching whatever and talking. we had some really great talks actually. finally, we were the only people left upstairs, so we finished our drinks and decided to hit the bathrooms and head home.
- on my way out of the bathroom [which is down a hallway], andrew stopped me by putting his hand on my chest and saying "i need you to stay very calm", which automatically sent my mind racing about what shit was going down, or who was around. he continued "when we walk out of here, brett lawrie is sitting right beside the door. brett lawrie. bro jesus. be cool". haha. we had a moment of schoolgirl crush panic, then found zach coming out of the bathroom and repeated the heads up. the three of us walked past his table, i totally checked him out [discreetly!], and away we went. we were all pretty proud of ourselves, especially in our intoxicated state, for playing it cool. we were also impressed that no one else was bothering him, just letting the man eat some dinner with his bros - as it should be.
- took the streetcar back to zube's, where we watched saved by the bell and picked apart an episode they have seen literally dozens of times.
- came home and cuddled my love to sleep.
again, i'm sure none of this is interesting to anyone but me, and also a million other things happened that just made it a phenomenal day, but there you have it. merry strasmas, everyone! |
