i worked in ct today.
as i returned to a patient, post-scan, to remove the iv i'd put in and send her on her way, she said to me "you're very good at your job".
i thanked her as i bandaged her arm and made sure she was aware of her post-exam insturctions.
she smiled at me and said "no really, you're excellent. it's so wonderful to come into an exam like this, so nervous, scared, and apprehensive, and be met with a technologist like you. you're cheery, and you explained everything perfectly. thank you".
i couldn't stop smiling, and possibly blushing. comments like that make it all worthwhile.
[for the record, i am damn good at my job. i know that. i wouldn't do it if i wasn't good at it. but there's something different, and better, about hearing it spontaneously and honestly from a patient. it made my day.] |
