i finally got around to doing that '25 random things' thing that a bunch of people tagged me for on facebook. i figured i might as well cross-post it here.
i'm not tagging anyone, but feel free to do it yourselves, natch.
1. food tv is my crack. it's sick really.
2. i love olives. a lot. when my brother and i were little, we used to get a jar in each of our christmas stockings. i looked forward to it as much as any part of christmas.
3. i miss my friends a lot, but i'm really proud of them for going all the places they've gone (literally and figuratively) in their lives/careers. i hope they feel the same way about me.
4. i have a ridiculously good memory. it's sort of insane.
5. astrologically, i'm an aries/taurus cusp. i have always considered myself a taurus, because i fit that personality to a t. aka i'm strong and stubborn.
6. i knew within seconds of meeting elena that we would be excellent roommates, and lifelong friends.
7. i put a tiny bit of ketchup on my french toast before topping it with maple syrup. you may gag, but it's delicious. it's like putting ketchup on eggs, and syrup on the toast - together! that was always normal in my family, because my mom's always done it.
8. i cry at nearly everything. movies, songs, and even commercials have been known to make me tear up. i can only imagine how ridiculous i will be in the future when i am pregnant and hormonal.
9. i miss my twin SO MUCH! [love you polska!]
10. there was a time when i thought buying seasons/collections of tv shows was one of the most useless things a person could do. since moving to kenora, i've changed my mind, and own many (10-15 different shows - and i can't just buy a season, i need to collect the entire series)
11. my popa used to keep a piggy bank of all the change he found on the ground for a given year. i used to love going for evening walks with him and picking up the change we found on the sidewalk to put in that year's bank. i have 1987's bank, it contains $4.86. i still don't know if that found coinage was legit, or if popa tossed it on the sidewalk for me to find.
12. i would leave josh for john mayer. josh seems to be okay with that.
13. 13 is my favourite number.
14. if i'd been a boy, my name would have been jonathan.
15. i'm 18 years older than my youngest brother. it was great, because i had all the perks of a baby, and none of the stress of being a teen mom.
16. i met one of my best friends via the writing on a bathroom stall in a bar.
17. i am (theoretically) fluent in french. i took french immersion classes from grade 1 through oac, and spent 3 months on exchange in france. i kick myself for having lost as much of it as i have, but i think it's my confidence that is gone more than the vocabulary itself. i'm sure it would come back to me if i tried.
18. i have a life goal to be on 'jeopardy'.
19. camp keewaydin is among my favourite places on earth. some of the best days and nights of my life were spent there, with some of the most amazing girls and women i've ever known.
20. i love random text messages. they brighten my entire day.
21. i was closer to my zaza than to any other person on earth. i flew back early from france because i knew how sick she was, even if she wouldn't tell me. she died 4 days later. she's the meaning behind my first tattoo. i miss her tons, and can only hope that she's proud of me.
22. my first crush was on elliott in e.t.
23. i am an avid supporter of organ donation. my family knows that i want to donate anything anyone else can use. y'all should donate too.
24. i like to dress in brightly coloured clothes. why blend in?
25. my shoe obssession/fetish is by far the girliest thing about me. i own more pairs than i need but, who cares? they are fierce! also, i come by this trait honestly, as both my mother and my zaz have/had closests full of glorious shoes.
