new job/potential move update:
i spoke with michelle last night. she's my "inside source" at etobicoke general. she and i went to college together, and worked together at payless for a couple of years. she's been at etobicoke general for a couple of months, and said she'd put in a good word for me when i applied. she told me that yesterday she was called into the office by her boss and another charge tech. they asked her for the scoop on me, and she said that they are really happy that i have mammo experience. i know i have a strong resume, but it's nice to hear that it's actually getting me places. mich also said that the position is definitely a year, and that they hinted it might go longer/permanent. we'll see about that. she also said [in a statement i somehow missed, and saw only when i read the conversation over later] that "right now it's just between you and one other girl". i know they interviewed at least 2-3 before me, and had at least 2 to interview after me, so i'm pretty stoked to know that it's between myself and only one other candidate.
i talked to my mom this morning about the housing situation. we agreed that the best/easiest way to do this is for us to look online, co-ordinate our shit, then she'll take a day to drive down to toronto and check a few places out. i trust her judgement, so if a place fits our requirements and she gives it the stamp of approval, i'll sign a lease. i know my mother would never have me living in a shithole, so i've got no worries there. it certainly makes more sense than me flying to toronto for a day of apartment viewings. i just don't have the time or the money for that right now. i love my mom.
