Let's talk about chapstick.
I'm one of those people who is constantly reapplying chapstick. Because of this I have been on the hunt for the best chapstick out there. I decided to compare the ones that are most often raved about.
1. Burt's Bees
I'm sure every person out there has tried this chapstick at some point in their lives. It's cooling, tingly, soothing and it smells good! For the longest time this was my chapstick of choice. However, I do have a problem with it. Sometimes it feels like it's just greasy on my lips - a feeling I absolutely hate! Overall this is a chapstick I will, of course be repurchasing. I don't think I could ever stop using it!
2. Nivea A Kiss of Moisture
I was really excited to get this one, because everyone who talked about it said that it was the most moisturizing chapstick they ever used! As soon as I got back in my car after picking this up at Wal Mart I applied it. Unfortunately I was extremely dissapointed. To start with my packaging must be defective, because the chapstick just slides right back into the tube after I twist it up. The other thing I don't like about it is that it too feels greasy on my lips. I will use this if nothing else is around, though.
Carmex in Strawberry
Ok, so let's start off with the scent. It was kind of weird. It's like a hygenic artificial strawberry scent. Not my favorite, for sure! The chapstick is cooling and soothing, but in a more intense way than Burt's Bees. I actually really liked this product and used it all the time until....the incident. I went out to dinner with my mom and kept my Carmex in my pocket. After we ate we went to the register to pay. I pulled out my Carmex to apply it and it melted right onto (and into) my mouth! It was disgusting! I've left chapsticks in my pocket before and this never happened, so I was really dissapointed. For that reason alone I will not repurchase this one.
EOS Lip balm
I already did a review on this, so you know it's also not the greatest lip balm. It takes a while to get it to really moisturize your lips and the packaging is cute, but unrealistic. However, the pluses outweigh the minuses. The honeydew scent is to die for and even though it takes a few layers to moisturize it lasts for a long time! I recently purchased the fruity one (the red one) and it smells like peaches. It's a good scent, but I definitely prefer the honeydew. I want to try the minty one, too.
So, what conclusions have I come to?
1. I'm never going to find my perfect chapstick.
2. Burt's Bees and EOS are my favorites.
3. Never keep Carmex in your pocket!!! |
