He warned me not to take it too seriously... that they make it sound scarier than it is, to make the government give you the money. The problem is... I see no hyperbole here. This is pretty much what I have to live with. Actually, there are some things he didn't think to mention, that I would've, and will in my own half of the paperwork.
"Ms. Haviland's Crohn's is not yet under good control and has damaged her colon. She will require at a minimum a hemicolectomy and a further repair of the defect between the vagina and the colon. At present this defect is approximately 3 x 1cm and there is abundant scar tissue which will make the surgical repair complex. Post surgery she will require further treatment to stop the progression of damage due to the Crohn's. This will likely involve IV infusion of Remicade."
"Ms Haviland's Crohn's is severe and has caused irreparable harm to her colon. This will have to be removed surgically. It has also caused a fistula between the colon and the vagina so that stool is expelled from both.
She is extremely fatigued by the Crohn's, it is causing anemia due to colonic blood loss. Current limitations are that she must rest in bed every 1 1/2 to 2 hours, and is limited in walking to about 200m.
She cannot work due to excessive fatigue.
Her prognosis at this time is only poor to fair. Because the Crohn's has been active for 13 years without significant remission she may not recover full health even after surgery and intravenous Remicaide." |
