Aaaaaand... I'm back! | 11/30/2008 |
For some reason, having bloop vanish of the face of the planet for a couple of weeks made me want it back. REALLY BAD. Never mind the fact that I hadn't written something in months. I still wanted it. Seeing as I haven't invested any time in my creative/non work related writing, my writing style has likely gone down the shitter. Don't worry though, soon I hope to be as gifted as... Jane Austen... Charlotte Bronte... Stephenie Meyer? Yeah. Probably not.
Lets discuss Stephenie Meyer, shall we? Hello. My name is Kat, and I have a problem. I'm addicted to the Twilight series, and all that is related. I am 23 years old, but you'd think I was a decade younger based on my obsession. I love the books. How can you not? Vampires? check. Hot/perfect guy? check. Forbidden love story? check.
I may have gotten over my Backstreet Boys (or BSB, if you know what I mean) obsession back when I was 15, but lets face it, I'm still a teeny bopper.
I own all of the books. In hardcover. And seeing as I lent one of my copies out to a coworker (and she's taking FOREVER to read it), I had to go out and buy the special edition hard cover. I've read all 4 books in the span of a day each, twice. And I've seen the movie twice already.
Going for the third time today.
Yeah. I have a problem. I don't really want to cure myself though.
I've tried to analyze my problem, and I think I've come up with a plausible reason behind it. You read this books that are written in the first person about a girl falling head over heals in love. It's easy to internalize her internal dialogue. You can't avoid it while reading. It makes you feel like you're the one in love. And let's be honest, Love is addictive, even to those already in love (such as myself. "I'm sorry honey... I'm in love with a fictional character. You don't mind, do you?")
And let's be honest, everyone needs this sort of crap to distract them from the regular day to day. It's nice to divert your attention from you hectic crazy life to something fluffy and harmless. Especially with everything that has been going on in my life lately, I really needed it.
But that is an entry for another day.
Cheers, all. I promise to be back soon.
