I woke up and thought what a dream! But then I looked around the room and thought this isn’t my room! And then I realise, damn it wasn’t a dream it actually happened! The door opened slightly and saw mum she opened it wider when she saw I was awake and smiled. She came in and closed the door , she then walked towards the bed and lied next to me and put her arms around me!
“Hey sweetheart! You ok?”
“No, I was thinking about dad! How is he going to re-act when he gets home and we not there?”
She looked down and shrugged and I thought I saw a tear go down her cheek but I looked away and changed the subject. “Mum, why didn’t you tell me you had a twin sister?”
She looked ashamed and said “Hun, there’s something I possible should tell you …”
but then there was a knock on the door and Alice walked in. Mum said “hi, you must be Alice!”
Alice nodded and walked to her aunt; mum stood up and gave her a hug! And then mum left us to it!
Alice looked at me and smiled and said “come on, we should get ready to go to school!”
I looked at her and smiled “damn, I was hoping to look around, meet the grandparents I never met and help mum with the new house we will be moving in!”
Alice laughed “no chance of that! Mum is helping your mum with the house! I will show you around the town when we get the chance and you meeting grandparents after school… don’t worry about it! Oh I nearly forgot we going to a party after you have met the grandparents!”
Party? But I only just got here! I need a decent night and I need to make friends, I possible have to catch up with school work and all the things I need to do! She looked like she was about to say something but she shook her head and she smiled and turned away and looked in the suitcase looking at my clothes.
I just sat on the bed and looked at her… finding my cousin strange but amusing and thought this is going to be different but a lot of fun! I thought I heard her giggle but I might have imagined that! it feels like she knows what I am thinking but that can’t be right no one can hear what’s people thinking… I need to stop this thinking! She finally looked at me and said “hmm, we going to have to go shopping and get new clothes none of these is suitable for around here! “
I looked at the suitcase at my trousers and don’t see what’s wrong with them yeah I know there isn’t any skirts and dresses but that’s cause I don’t wear them (I think that’s what she was saying that I meant to) oh crap! She said “no worries, you can borrow some of my clothes till we can get to the shops!”
“I don’t have the money to buy clothes; mum and I don’t have much money!”
She just said “don’t worry about that!”
I just looked her confused but she shrugged and went out of my room!
Few minutes later she came in and gave me a mini skirt and a top, things I wouldn’t wear normally! I looked at her but she went out of the room before I could say anything! So I went to have a shower and then got in the clothes she gave me. I looked in the mirror and thought no I can’t wear this! I was about to get out of the clothes and put on trousers when Alice walked in like she heard what I was about to do and looked at me and said “wow! That looks better on you than it does on me!”
I looked at my reflection and I saw doubt on my face as I don’t believe that but I quickly changed my face expression and smiled so I looked like I am at least grateful! I can’t believe I am going to do this I can’t but I saw Alice was wearing a mini skirt and nice top kind of the same style of the one I was wearing and though wow she does look amazing!! And some reason her smile widened and said “come on, we need to go and have breakfast!”
So we went downstairs and went to the kitchen, I stopped at the kitchen doorway and was amazed to see the table was full of food! There was cereal, sausages, bacon, toast, scramble egg, boiled egg, runny egg, eggy bread, orange juice, apple juice, tea, coffee, yoghurt and so on… I must have stayed there with my mouth open, Alice turned to me and whispered “don’t worry you don’t have to eat all of it! I usually don’t, I just have a toast… mum won’t know!”
Jaz turned and gave Alice a look saying I heard that… and I thought but you couldn’t it was only low enough for me to hear! I didn’t know what you and your mum have so I just made everything! I looked at her and she said actually this is what I do every day as everyone keeps changing their mind what to have!”
Alice giggled and took my hand and we sat together, Jaz watched us and looked happy that Alice and I are getting on so well! Mum then came in with an outfit I never seen before! She was in a dress that showed her features off! I just stared at her and she glared at me like she was telling me do not laugh! I wanted to tease her and said “Wow mum, you look amazing!”
Jaz looked pleased, Alice giggled and mum glared at me and came in the kitchen and sat next to Jaz and she said “you sure you don’t mind coming with me to see the parents and help with the house?”
“Not at all! I took a day off work to help you! Now stop fussing!!! Oh and I told them about you and they would like to meet you to see if you be good for the job!”
Mum smiled and said “thank you!”
Mum looked at me and smiled, but I knew she wanted to tell me something but she mouthed “later”
I was disappointed that I had to wait to know what is going on but I nodded and looked away as I couldn’t really do much else about it!
Then we ate some breakfast Jaz, Jake and Alice ate full breakfast (sausage, egg and bacon etc). Mum and I just stared at them for a little while a little shock how they can eat all that! Then we ate cereal and toast which we are more used to! Jaz asked “Laura you going to pop in the supermarket today?”
Mum said “Yep! Why?”
Jaz said “because he is working there these days!”
Mum looked pleased and looked happy!”
I looked confused “who you talking about?”
Alice then jumped up “come on, or we will be late!”
I glared at her cause I wanted to know what is going on but she shrugged and looked at me in a way to stop me saying anything so we stood up and left the house. |
