We walked to the school and we were non-stop chatting about life before we met and actually I was amazed how much I opened up! In the past I wouldn’t opened up like this to anyone and I wouldn’t usually socialise to anyone like Alice!
Anyway when we got to the school she looked at me very excited and pulled me to two girls about our age and they looked as pretty as Alice and Alice said “hey, this is my cousin Frankie!”
They looked at me and one of them whispered to Alice and Alice whispered back “I was going to take her later today before the party!”
She nodded and turned to me and said “Jenny”
And the other girl said “Sarah”
I just nodded and said “nice to meet you both”
Then we all walked inside but I know both of the girls think of me as an outsider like my aunt and uncle! When will I fit in, it’s frustrating! Then I saw a boy looking at me when I was about to go inside, he saw that I saw him looking at me and he quickly looked away!
I just shrugged and followed Alice and her friends inside, they took me to a desk and the person behind it looked at me then at Alice and her friends and then she said “you must be Frankie!”
I nodded and she gave me handful of paper and books and then went back to doing what she did! I looked at the pile what was just given to me! Alice said “here, this is for you!”
I looked what she was giving to me and it was a pretty bag and I smiled a thanks to her! She helped me put the pile in the bag and we all walked to class.
When we got there they walked to the second to the last line of desks and chairs and Alice left a space to her left for me but when I got there I looked at the desk behind me and saw the boy who stared at me when I was going into the school! I sat down and I saw that Alice was whispering to the boy behind her and gave him a quick kiss. Then Alice looked at me and said “Tom this is Frankie, my cousin and Frankie this is Tom, my guy! And this one behind Jenny is her man Mike and next to him is Sarah’s man John. The guy behind you is Luke”
I nodded to them and said “nice to meet you all!”
They nodded back and went back to chatting together. I looked at Luke and he leaned over and said “you are such a chicken, you and your mum! Running away like you did!”
I glared at him “how do you know? You know nothing about our lives! How it was back at home!”
He was about to say something but then the teacher came in and I turned away from him feeling annoyed! Alice leaned to me and whispered “don’t worry about Luke; he really likes you deep down!”
I looked at her but she was now looking at the teacher!
The day carried on like that… Luke picking on me but not saying things which hurt, Alice and her friends (but I have a feeling they don’t want to be with me) staying close with me. At the end of the day Alice said her goodbyes – even though they seeing each other at the party tonight! Alice decided we will go to the shops first to get some clothes! So when we got there we went pass a jewellery shop and I saw something in there I like so I stood at the window staring at it like I can’t take my eyes off it! so Alice pulled me inside and said “can we look at that ring please!”
I looked at her and said “no I can’t, I can’t afford it!”
But when the shopkeeper came back with the ring he said “why not try it on!”
I looked at him and he nodded so I put it on and I felt strange like I was free finally that this is who I am and meant to be! I looked at the ring shocked at how I felt! I looked at the shopkeeper and said hesitating “hmmm…. How much?”
He looked at me and then at the ring and he just smiled “it looks so perfect on you , I don’t think I be able to find a better owner you can have it!”
I looked at him shocked “I… can’t have it for free!”
But he just turned his back to me and went on with his business. Alice pulled me out of the shop and said “let’s go to that shop and get something to eat I am starving!”
I nodded but kept looking at the ring and went into the shop and saw mum in there I was about to say hi, but saw that she was talking to a guy I don’t know and it looked very cosy! So I left them to it and Alice and I got couple of bar of chocolate then went to get some clothes!
Then when we were done shopping I was feeling very tired but Alice said “right Grandparents time!” |
