Laura and Tom met in university and they were in love (or Laura thought she was). So when he asked her to marry him in their last year, Laura said “yes”.
At that time they didn’t seem much reason why not, Laura could see he loves her, but he didn’t know much about her! She didn’t listen to her parents who told her not to marry him… follow her heart.., but she ignored it as she knew her heart would want to stay at home and marry another guy! But she wanted to get out she had enough of her hometown!
When she got married and expecting her first child things started to change! She missed home – the urge of being back to the place was so strong! Mum looked at the special ring on her third finger on her right hand and said “we will go home but we will wait till she is fifteen or sixteen!”
She knew one thing that she won’t take her husband with her, it just be herself and the child who was growing inside her!
When Frankie was born she was loved by both of her parents and they told stories! Laura told her strange stories which make sense and made Frankie smile and glow! Tom told her stories the stories we all heard before… fairies, princess, etc and Frankie always falls asleep but enjoyed them when Frankie grew older Tom went away a lot for his business so Laura tell her much more about the stories and teach her a few things without giving too much away!
She felt bad as she always thought she would be with this other guy and she knew one thing she was meant to be with him! Maybe when they go back she will find him there waiting for her! Laura wrote to her family and someone else and sent pictures in every letter of Frankie and they always replied in their own way!
This went on for years and Frankie went to school where she always felt like an outsider and never fit in even though she did make friends but they didn’t feel like she was close to them! and she had boyfriends but no-one she really felt close to and when she was fourteen she gave her on boys but she stayed friends but never opened up etc!
When she was fifteen she started drawing pictures of things what just came in her head. Laura came in one day to give her a drink and something to eat and she looked at the pictures on Frankie’s wall and started to cry, Frankie turned shocked to hear her mum cry and said “mum?”
Laura looked at her daughter and said “it’s time to leave!” |
