I watched
Grown Ups the other day at the movies and I have to say I was impressed. I usually don't like Adam Sandlers movies anymore...but this one was pretty good. I was interested, entertained and engrossed pretty much throughout. As with my review of
Hard Candy, the other reviews seem to be exactly opposite. They give it a low review. Maybe that's why I started my own Movie Review, haha.
Adam Sandler plays Lenny, a successful Hollywood agent. Chris Rock plays Kurt, a house-husband. Kevin James plays Eric, who pretends to be a big shot in his company through-out the movie. David Spade plays Marcus, the only single guy of the group, who is a drunk. Rob Schneider plays, well, Rob - who is an all-natural, veganite who prefers older women.
They were best friends through high school, but after high school life apparently put distance between them. The death of their favored basketball coachm Coach "Buzzer," brings them all back together. They all go to the lake and take a weekend to get reacquainted. While there in the woods, at the lake, horsing around, they realize that they all lost a part of themselves a long time ago - and that they haven't passed the fun in their childhood down to their kids.
It has a heart-warming ending with a superb meaning/moral to the story that could get you to ask yourself: what have I lost?
It is funny (some of the humor is not my favorite - but other parts are hilarious), warm, and largely family-friendly.
Despite it starring and being co-written by Adam Sandler, I think this movie was a good one.
