My husband's job is so sketchy right now. He knows he'll have work until October, but currently he's afraid the company he works for will lose a HUGE contract. He has his master's in hydrogeology, so it's not like there are tons of jobs available.
Because of this, my boss helped me get two extra kids to watch along with her two and her stepdaughters who visit. I also just did a weekend overnight for the four girls. It was actually a lot of fun. I do not, however, like waking up with a baby. I prefer sleep. The baby went to sleep at 7, woke up at 10 then woke up at 2 then wide awake at 5. The 3 year old came into the room around 5:30. I HATE cartoons and I rarely let her watch them, but at 5:30 in the morning I don't want to entertain.
The second night I was prepared. I pre-made her morning snack and her chocolate milk and put them in the fridge. I told her when she wakes up she's to go get her snack and milk and come to my room. Sure enough, she was there with milk and snack. I had all ready put on cartoons so I could take my shower. It's amazing what you can get done when you wake up at 5:30 on a weekend!
Now I have an interview with another one of my boss's friends to watch her 2 year old a few evenings a week. Mostly an hour or two so she can go to the gym or run errands. I'm excited!
I really love my job. It's pretty awesome being a nanny, and not to brag, but I'm really good at it. I love going to work every day. I used to work jobs where I HATED going to work. Now it's like, "Oh, work? Okay, I'm on my way!" Even when I come home completely exhausted, I still feel like so lucky that this is what I get to do every day. |
