Tomorrow I go in for an endoscopy. They are going to shove a camera down my throat all the way into my stomach and possibly into my upper intestine. Why? Well, because I mentioned to my doctor a few weeks ago that I have a problem swallowing every now and then. Whats probably happening Im told is that I have acid reflux and this is causing some problems in my esophagus like 'tertiary contractions'. Basically I dont swallow smoothly which causes stuff to sort of stop going down. Its not painful and I dont stop breathing but it can get very annoying. So tomorrow they take a closer look to see what the problem is. I have the feeling I will walk out of there with a prescription for Prevacid or some other acid blocker.
In other news I wrenched my back on Saturday while I was helping a friend clean up some trees that had come down in an ice storm. It was a remarkable site. He lives in one of the higher parts of the state. They had an ice storm Thursday night into Friday morning. It was surreal as I drove up there. For most of the trip it was bare trees but when I came around a bend in the road all the tree were covered in ice. The ice was at least half an inch thick. There were mangled trees everywhere. There were trees on power lines. There were utility poles split in half. My friend actually had his electrical wiring pulled from the house by trees that fell. It was also strange when we were doing the clean up because every time the wind blew it sounded like breaking glass everywhere. Quite surrealistic. I didnt have my camera with me so I couldnt take any pictures. Sorry. I took some with my cell phone on the way back but they didnt turn out well.
Im on vacation again this week. My last vacation of the year. I have no more days to use. Sigh. I didnt do much today. I have the appt tomorrow. Im thinking of driving up to New Hampshire on Thursday to do some antiquing. It will depend on the weather.
I probably wont post again until after the holidays so I want to wish you all a Merry Christmas. For those of you who have sent me cards, thank you very much for thinking of me. I really do appreciate it. (((hugs))) For those of you who havent, well, I will let your guilt eat at you and ruin your whole life. hehe just kidding.
