Not only am I still dealing with the fact that AF showed up...and I am not pregnant. [even tho I still feel pregnant...if that makes any sense to anyone.]
But today, I got up, got ready for work and headed in.
When I got there my boss fired me. Said I wasn't a team player because I didn't come in on my off day. [because I already had previous plans.]
And that brings me to my rant.
WHO DO THESE PEOPLE THINK THEY ARE??
Just because you run a company or are a manAger over a department does NOT mean that you run every aspect of your employees lives! I have a life outside of my job!
I get paid minimum wage for working my ass off while you sit there and get paid salary. So it doesn't matter if you work at all. You're still getting paid the same amount.
So why don't you get off your ass and cover the shift that needs to be covered?? I deserve my off days. I get worked like a dog while I'm there. You make up the schedule and tell me when I can have an off day. So I, in turn, have to work my social life around your schedule! So when I make plans for my off days...NO, I am NOT coming in to cover someone else!!
Maybe I'm selfish. But that's no reason for me to lose my job. I work when I'm scheduled to work, I put in my hours. Why not punish the people that keep calling in instead?? Wouldn't that make more sense??
I am not your property! You cannot make me work on my off day. I have to have time to myself. Time for my family and friends!!
Maybe I'm the crazy one..but I will NEVER be completely controlled by my boss. And if that means I have to go from job to job, I will!
So to all of you managers out there [the ones that don't agree with this.]

They can't legally fire you for NOT coming in on your day off. There has to be something beyond that.
Unfortunately some companies are "at will" companies - which means they can just fire you without a reason, so they can say they just didn't want her to work there anymore, if she works for one of those. My company is one. =\
