NoJoMo 1-2 .. and then some

11/02/2014

Time: 10:24pm

State of Being: eh.

Song lyric in my head:
current desire: to know what NoJoMo stands for and where I can find prompts. (an edit from way later: found it! hehehe)

where am I?: in the bedroom on the bed

what's that noise?: Russ getting ready to leave for work. he's gotta set up for a midnight release for a game

1. What is your favourite thing to do on a cold rainy day?

I'm an indoor person anyway, so basically anything I do normally. But I love listening to the rain outside and bundle up. It's one of my favorite types of weather. In florida, cold doesn't happen very often. It got in the 50s this morning and tonight though. woo-hoo!

2.Where are the places that you enjoy visiting?

I miss visiting IA where a lot of my family lives. I haven't been in years. I love visiting my mom and step-dad in GA, and my step family in SC. My favorite place in the world (that I've been to) is St. Augustine. I love it so much! Lots of history, and the atmosphere is amazing. Plus all the haunted locations=awesomeness.

so back to our regularly scheduled program..

I haven't updated in a while. Lack of mental energy.
anywho, I'm going to pause for a bit, and come back.

cut to 10:51pm
warning: brief TMI
so I just went to hug Russ goodbye when he was getting ready to leave for work, and it turned into unexpected sex. sorry TMI. (hey my diary. lol)

Y'know I'm one of the weird ones that cry after sex sometimes. I think it's the crazy increase in serotonin. It happens mostly when we go a couple weeks without it or I'm going through one of my annoying bouts of depression.

These past couple weeks have screwed with my emotions a lot. My principal is starting to freak out over parental complaints. Last week, there was a meeting with one of the students' parents. His parent wrote a long letter to all of us teachers stating if we can't teach their kid then we don't belong in that school. It really hit me harder than it should. I really enjoy having that kid in my classes. He's great. He's one of the students that have a severe learning disability. (all the students in the school have some form of a special need. Some have forms of autism and asbergers, some have OCDs, dyslexia, or just slow learning. Or multiple combinations of the above. So I went home that day, and I cried really hard. And it wasn't just about the letter. (Which by the way was filled with so many spelling and grammar errors. Even the name of the school was spelled wrong.. every time.) It was about where my life is right now.

I feel badly when I complain about my life. Because I truly truly love life. And I do have it better than some of my friends my age.

But I'm 30. With no kids and two part-time jobs. One of which, pharmlife I can't stand. I mean there are some aspects of it I will miss a lot when I eventually leave. because I won't be there forever. no way, shape, or how. But for the most part, I really can't work in the pharmacy anymore. But that's a rant for another day. And I'm sure I've gone down that path of diary digression many times.

My second job, teaching, is really tentative. I love it. I love teaching so much. I love those kids. But that school is crazy. The principal today even said the parents are our customers and we have to treat them like that. I understand it's a very small private school, and without each kid, they won't get the funding they need. I get that. But what happen to education?

Which leads me to the dramatic story of the weekend. (Dun dun dun).

Friday morning, I was tooling around craigslist to see if there are any open afterschool tutoring places I can apply for. Since I want to escape pharmlife. And I really had this feeling I needed to look. An inkling in the back of my head. Well, I came across an ad looking for a high school/middle school math teacher in the town where my school is. Of course I clicked it out of curiosity. Well mostly to confirm my suspicions. And yes. It was my school. Looking for a math teacher. *sigh* And our current math teacher had no idea.

There's only four of us teachers all together. I teach science and social skills. There's a writing and computers teacher. Reading and life skills. And then the math and history teacher. Who's a really great guy. He's a great teacher and a great person. He had just told me last week that he gave up another job offer to teach at our school.

I didn't know what to do. Russ happened to be home Friday morning so I quickly ran to him. He told me to say and do nothing and pretend I didn't see it, because i could get in trouble. But... that's not in my nature. I couldn't do that to the teacher. If it were me, I would want to know. And if this man was blindsided, suddenly without a job, and I knew about it, I would feel horrible.

So at school on friday, I finally got some alone time with the other two teachers (not including math teacher). I said "I kind of have to tell you guys something. And I'm sorry if this puts you in a bad position, but I didn't know what else to do or who else to talk to." And I told them about the ad, and showed it to them on my phone. We tried to come up with something to do. Because we couldn't just out right tell him in the middle of school. Though I almost did a couple times. So we thought of ways to anonymously tell him.

Friday night, I went on craigslist again, and clicked the e-mail a friend option. I used his yahoo address and put both in the sender and recipient boxes.

Saturday morning, I woke up to a bunch of text messages from him, texting all of us in a panic that he found the ad. What should he do.

Saturday was kind of crazy. I spent all day texting him and waiting on updates. Because he was going to call the principal and find out what was going on.

On top of that Russ' brother had a Halloween party that night, and I was preparing food. I made some mummy dogs, and they turned out kind of cute.

I attempted some spider oreo cookies, but they didn't turn out so great. I made some Jello shots too.
Oh! (back track) Friday night, my friend, Lindsay came over randomly. I love random Lindz visits. My original goal was to make those jello worms. I was just about to start on them, when she texted me wondering what i was doing and if I wanted to hang out. And I told her my plans and asked if she wanted to help. of course she did! woo-hoo! I love my Lindz. I call her Guru, and she calls me Giggles. Well.. Agent Guru, and Agent Giggles. We're members of the CIA and FBI out to stop the evil IRS from exploding chickens. We've maintained our secret identities since high school. It's a long awesome story! But anywho, I'm glad my guru was there to help me attempt the jello straws. And to let me know when to give up. lol I ended up attempting to just make jello shots with a gummy worm inside, but come Saturday morning, it wasn't congealed. (they are still in the fridge... not congealed.. oops)

So on Saturday, I picked up more jello, some little portion cups, along with my mummy dog materials, and made more jello shots. I had sour jelly worms soaking in vodka for 24 hours that I was going to add to the original jello worms, and I left them soaking just for the fun of it. So I added the worms on top, and they looked awesome.

So anyway, at the party Saturday night, I was still getting updated texts from mr math teacher. Apparently, the school board put the ad up after parents were complaining the kids weren't understanding the math, and the tests weren't on the material taught. blablabla. (it's all BS btw)

oh. here's a pic of russ and i at the party:

So today at wal-mart, I was getting texts all day too. Apparently, the principal was questioning him how he saw the ad, because he wasn't supposed to see it. (like craigslist isn't public or anything) I call up Ms. Writing and Computer teacher to apologize for putting her in that position. she said not to worry, because she was the one that had someone text him anonymously from an untraceable number. Saying that they were a friend of a friend and couldn't tell him who they were..

I know it seems silly all the secrecy. And it really is, but unfortunately, that school is showing some sheisty colors. All of our jobs are on the line. I think we will end up telling him later when all this blows over that it was us. But for now, we have to save our butts, and I know he would understand.

I guess they told him that once they hired someone new, they would give him two weeks. Which is crazy unfair, because how could he find a new job in two weeks. It's not like teacher positions are open ALL the time.

I'm really worried though, because on friday after school, i was talking to the principal about possibly holding after school private theatre lessons for kids. (there has to be some kind of insurance involved apparently. blablala) but I mentioned i was looking at craigslist for after school things. I'm wondering if she's going to put two and two together.

So that's been my crazy week.

There's a lot more, but I'm getting pretty tired.

I do love this random "cold" weather Florida is having.

I wish I got to go to a Halloween party! I didn't know anyone throwing one this year.

That all sounds crazy. Poor math teacher! I hope he is able to find a job. That is pretty crappy of the school.
