State of Being: my tooth hurts, i'm still coughing, but I'm feeling pretty good. I really needed these last two days off to remember that i'm an actual person and not someone's employee.

28. If you could change one thing about the world, what would it be? Why would you make this change?

Less ignorance and intolerance. I wish people would attempt to learn things instead of just living life in their own world thinking everything they believe is absolute truth. They need to see that there are other people out there. 7 billion people in the world, and 7 billion different ways of thinking. This could eliminate so much conflict. I'm talking about not just religious beliefs, but moral and ethical issues. Race crap. (I could go on a tangent about the stupidity going on right now. It's no wonder the rest of the world thinks Americans are crazy. because we are lol) Controversial issues such as homosexuality and abortion. And petty issues like whether or not it's okay to yell and cuss out retail employees. (my daily life)

If I want to be absolutely truthful, of course I would want world peace. But it starts with those two things up there. Less ignorance and intolerance. Accept people for who they are. Of course it's hypocritical of me to say that, because i should accept people as the ignorant and intolerant people they are. lol! and for the most part I do. This world has to have its balance. To appreciate the intelligent creative people on Earth, you have to have the insanity. It doesn't mean I have to like it.

So right now I am currently sitting here with my hair glopped up in dye. I tell myself every time. "Mel. Don't dye your hair dark. Your roots are just going to come in, and it will be a pain in the ass to maintain.." and what do I do every year about once a year because of sheer boredom? I dye my hair dark. lol I'm actually kind of excited. I haven't been dark in a while.

I have to be at work at 3 today in the pharmbox. I'm not looking forward to it. But then again, I never really do.

Tomorrow, our friends Dennis and Carolina are getting married. Russ is actually going to officiate which is cool. He's an ordained minister... in Dudeism. Yup. Dudeism. No lie. From the Big Lebowski. It's an actual "religion." He's a Dudeist Priest. My husband is a Dudeist Priest. I still haven't figured out a way to tell my ultra Christian parents. I doubt I ever will. My mom my associate it with worshiping a false idol or something. Russ got this bumper sticker that looks like a Jesus fish with sunglasses. lol. He really wants to put it on the car, but I don't think that's a good idea. The school I teach at is full of conservative Christian kids, parents, and teachers. The last thing I need is for the wrong parent to see it and think crazy things.

Again with my ignorance and intolerance speech. Why should I care what others think? In the long run, I don't. But I can't risk my job because of some ignorant person. It's not worth it.

But I'm really excited for the wedding. We have to leave about ten in the morning to get there to help set up and stuff. which is cool. whatever help they need, I'm more than happy to lend a hand.

I'm looking down at my hands now, and they are covered in little splotches of darkness. It either looks like I went painting, or I got myself banged up pretty hard.

hey Russ is calling. He's at wal-mart right now doing his work thing. I asked him to look through the black friday movie deals for The Hobbit and Divergent. He found the Hobbit, but not Divergent.

I still haven't seen Divergent, and I really want to. I loved the book. and one of my students is pretty obsessed with the movie and books and asks me almost every day if I've seen it. lol

Last night we went to Russ' mom's house for dinner. It was good. I have to be honest. I really dislike her husband, Ray. Every time he talks, I just cringe. He's loud, rude, and obnoxious. He has no problem making racial comments. And there's more drama surrounding him that's way too long of a story.

Speaking of stories.. I started writing again. woo-hoo! and for fun I decided to reread some stories I started years ago that I never finished. I want to one day finish them all. I still remember where I was going with them. Maybe I can just publish a collection of unfinished stories lol.

I WILL finish a novel one day. I WILL!

otay running out of things to talk about. I better go wash out my hair. I'm super excited to see it dark again. despite how much annoyance it will cause later. lol I'm a natural blonde, but I do prefer dark hair. I really think people take brunettes more seriously. I already have a ditzy nature about it. I'm cool with it, but I think it would be more accepted if my hair was darker. Plus I love it!
