what's that noise?: just the fan
Before anything else, I just want to say thank you to anyone out there that has served. I may be a giant anti-war annoying liberal hippie, but I have nothing but utmost respect for any Veteran. It takes so much courage to enlist and fight for the country. To sometimes have to leave your home, family, and friends for months or even years. I know that military families are constantly uprooted and move to another location every couple years. The life has to be a difficult one, and anyone who can face that challenge is amazing. And to those that have faced combat and survived, it takes a strong soul to overcome something like that. Living with PTSD and other health issues caused by active duty isn't fair to you. You are given nothing but respect and love from me. Thank you so very very much.
Is there anyone in your family who fought for your country in any division of the military (army, navy, air force, national guard ect...) ? Could be an active member, retired or even someone who is now deceased
Yes yes yes. My grandpa was a Marine who served in WW2. I thought I always thought he was in the army until my uncle said this morning "he was a good marine." I can't lie. I think my mind was blown a bit. He passed away when I was a freshman in high school. I really really miss him. I miss all my grandparents that have passed, but he was awesome. I wish Russ could have met him, because they would have gotten along so well. They both have that witty sarcasm about them. Grandpa would always catch my thumb or finger in his hand and not let go. lol I had to figure out how to wiggle about and escape.
I had a great Uncle in WW2 too.
Russ' dad was in WW2 too. He passed away when Russ was a teenager. (He was in his 50s when Russ was born. Russ was a surprise. lol)
My mom and step dad were both in the Air Force. And my cousin was in the army. I'm not sure if I have anyone else in my family.
I have a few high school friends that enlisted when they graduated. Air Force, Army, Marines. A couple of them were even deployed to the Middle East for a while. That was nerve racking. Thankfully, they came back in one piece for the most part.
peace!
