So...I made an impromptu and surprise visit to my grandparent's house yesterday. My high school was playing in state playoffs (sectionals?) and was playing Miller High School. My friend, Yvette, is a math teacher at Miller. That is part of the reason I drove 4 hours to watch a freakin' football game. I'm not a big fan of football, haha. I didn't really watch the game either. I did notice and hear that it was a good game though. We went into double overtime. I was already home before the first OT however. I left early because I was bored and to avoid the mass chaos (regarding traffic) at the end of the game. The score ended up being 36-35, I believe, in Miller's favor. I know they won the game, haha. Just so you get the visual image of the traffic problems...I'm going to describe the road the school sits along.

There is the high school, newer elementary school, McDonald's, a grocery store, residences, real estate office, AND Wal-Mart along a narrow 2-lane road (traffic goes in 2 directions). Imagine the traffic there (in a small town) around 3pm OR events like sports games. You've seen that stretch, Kassey....you know what I'm talking about somewhat.

Speaking of the grocery store....apparently the chain of stores that owns the place is trying to open a store here in Joplin as well. The store manager, who goes to my grandparent's church back home, has been up in Joplin helping them set up the new store. I wonder where that'd be. I can definitely use him for a reference if I try to get a job there. I grew up with his kids and am good friend with his niece. I know his parents as well. You have to love small towns. Haha.
I'm definitely going to look into getting a job there. Maybe it will be better than my hell-hole of a job right now. It's a prospect anyway.

I left town today around 10:30am-11am and didn't get into Joplin until nearly 3pm. It is a long drive between the two towns. Before I left, my Aunt Kathy came over to my grandparents' place. Thus, I got to see her before I left. Aunt Alicia came over to perm Grandma's hair as well. I guess Danielle was bummed that she didn't see me before I left. On my way out of town, I stopped by the McDonald's to see my cousin Thomas and say bye. He had no idea I was in town. I also stopped by the high school to say bye to Justin and Danielle (cousins...they are siblings). I can officially say that I visited a cousin in ISS (In School Suspension), haha. That is where Justin was for the day (for skipping school). Danielle wasn't even at school. Aunt Kathy saw her walking in the opposite direction from the school that morning and gave her a ride to the school. Danielle claimed she had run after the bus and had missed it so she was walking. I seriously doubt that because she lives on the opposite side of town from where she was spotted.

Imagine my surprise when I found out she wasn't in school today. She was skipping school...again. This isn't her first time. I know I lost some "cool points" with her when she found out that I narked on her too. That is, if I even had any to begin with. Haha. I definitely called Aunt Alicia (her mom) and told her what was going on. I was being nice and going to say bye so she could say she saw me before I left. I'm glad I did now but not because I got her in trouble. She needs to be in school getting her education. She is wanting to drop out of school...if you want to know. She is 16 years old though and can't legally do that until next year. She NEEDS her high school diploma and to be able to experience high school...highs and lows. I want my sister to speak with her about staying in school. It might stick in Danielle's thick skull that way. They have always been close and they are a lot alike. Keri dropped out in 9th grade and knows what is down that road. I just hope Keri's voice of experience doesn't reach deaf ears.

I got to see my friend Kristina G while at home. That was nice. I dropped by there before I headed into town to my grandparents' apt. She knew I was coming. She has kids and works so I made sure to tell her. I also told Danielle...who I know can't keep a secret. She told her mom but that was all the people she told. That's okay. I called my Aunt Bertha/Uncle George while I was at the game. I knew I wouldn't have time to see them...so that was my way to reach out. I saw Aunt Bertha's brother (and his wife, Monica) at the game. I was leaving when I saw them though and was tired so I didn't talk long.

I DID surprise my grandparents. It was a pleasant experience though...or so they acted. I barely missed getting to eat my grandma's exceptional chicken and dumplings though. She cooked them for lunch today...and I had to leave before then. I had to get back to Joplin to go to work tonight. Blah. I kind of played hooky to go home yesterday...haha.

Anyway, my battery is dying and if I move to plug it in, my internet signal will disappear. Haha. I'm leaving now. Have a great day/night.--Robyn
