it's so hard, it really is, and I'm so sorry. I wish there was something anyone could say to make it more comfortable, and less intrusive to every aspect off your life. I've only had three real relationships.
One was high school. The other two I met online. Never long distance, but still. I don't think anyone can truly know anyone else online. I don't really believe in strictly online relationships, because you can miss so much. But I don't believe that getting to know someone online is a bad thing.
It has a stigma because too many people are stupid about it.

You don't follow the same religion? Abnormal.
Don't wear the same clothes? Abnormal.
People are rude because they don't get it. If they wouldn't do it, why would anyone else? Therefore, it is something to be mocked.
The best you can do is just... get on with it. In the long run, you're the bigger person.

as for your entry, my friend and his GF are long distance, and actually, she lives in ohio as well, and they met online as well and through conventions. I will tell you, they are doing great and i only can say i wish for you the happiness they have! and good luck in this relationship!

I once met a guy online. He lived in a town not that far away from me, we had a great time talking online and on the phone and it was just awesome. Then we met up, and well... it didn't click. But I'd like to think that we're still friends, we talk sometimes and now he's happily engaged and he deserves it If you are, like you said, careful when meeting people online, it can turn into a great love, or a great way to meet new friends ^^

I dated a boy from florida once :] I live in Seattle. When he flew in the first time, it was exactly as you described meeting your guy.
I think it's perfectly fine to meet people from online. I met my current boy on craigslist. I'd put an ad for a sign language buddy in the strictly platonic section and he replied. He's probably the best guy I've ever been with.
But you definitely need to be safe about it. I wish more people understood that. But I think sometimes your feelings get in the way, and you feel so safe talking to that person and it's hard to consider that it really could go badly..
