I don't think the girls parents were concerned about the age difference. I think they were concerned by how very fast he proposed. A week? I would have been very concerned as her mother as well.
Wow your coworker shouldn't have spoken to you like that. That's awful. Especially after all the time you put into it. Things happen. Technology doesn't always cooperate. No reason to act like that.

a few quick thoughts, having been through more shit in my life than an average person....DON'T STRESS SO MUCH!.....
1- No special lady of my own
(I'm way older than you and me either but I have a blast)
2-My parents are …my mom isn’t talking to my dad and hasn’t for a few weeks now.
( This is their issue, not yours, I'm sure the both still love you)
3-My mom owes me lots of money and I’m unsure how she’s going to pay me back.
(of course you would like to get it back but she's yor mother and anytime you lend money to friends of family, you should always be predated for te non payback issue - and think before you lend it, "am I willing to lose this money" - I always did)
4-I get to hear all the negative crap from both of them about each other and yet I see it myself about them.
(You already know it so don't listen to it)
5- I’m trying to plan a birthday dinner for my mom and my sibs are no help right now. I came up with a few places we could go and asked them which they thought would be best and my sister said “just ask her”. But that takes away from the bit of surprise plus hey, we can do this on our own. We’re grown adults.
(so, as you said you are trying to plan a party - PLAN IT - fuck the siblings if they don't want to help. You do it, for the love of your mama and your siblings can get on board with youi or not - doesn't matter)

I somewhat agree with John about the job stuff. If you check no for drivers license put a disclaimer about why and how you get around. They might make exceptions because of the circumstances.
