It rained today, which makes me happy because we needed it in the worst kind of way. My plants have gotten watered for the first time in a while. I'm still hoping our avocado trees will produce avocados whenever the time is right. What I'd really like is an orange tree, though...an orange tree and a Japanese magnolia tree, to be specific. That would be awesome.
There's a run-off election here where I live on Saturday, and I get to spend 14 hours sitting on my rear end and taking down the names of people who go to vote. It's not that bad...after the presidential election, I pray that this election will be a lot slower in terms of how many people show up. The place was insane on November 6; we had people lining up outside to vote even before 6 a.m., when the polls officially opened. I hope I get a chance to read some more "1984"...lol. I need to finish that book soon. The end of the year is upon us.
I had made a goal of reading 50 books this year, but I'm going to come up 46 books short, it looks like. I don't like speed reading because for me it takes away from the joy of just relaxing and letting the story really sink in. Maybe I should set a more realistic goal, like 10 books in a year (which includes thick novels). I'll do that starting next month, I think.
That's all for now, folks. God bless! |
