I HATE--- no--- LOATHE running. so when I saw this, I thought ANYTHING would be better than running.
I was wrong.
"Tabata" is named after this doctor that is all about high-intensity workouts. so you would do 20-seconds of something SUPER HIGH INTENSITY, and 10 seconds resting.
that's what we did today.
we did 8 rounds of "Tabata - bottom to bottom" (rest for 2 minutes) then run a mile.
"bottom to bottom" is where you start in a squat position and shoot up and then back down. going up/down is 1 rep. you try to get as many reps as you can in the 20 seconds, then you rest (still squatting) for 10 seconds.
I did 101 of these before my legs gave in.
then I got to rest for 2 minutes.... AND THEN RUN A FUCKING MILE!
The good/bad news is that I have a 5k coming up in less than 2 weeks. the good/bad news is that my mile is "down" to 10:52. It's my goal to do a 5k in less than 35 minutes. so..... yea.
*EDIT*
the shortest mile i've EVER ran (in my WHOLE life) was 7:34.--- this was during jr-corp-drum-corp where we ran 2 miles every morning before brushing our teeth/putting sports bras on. (i blame my saggy boobs on this fact.) ---the next time I'm home, someone remind me to get my photo-books so I can upload some pics of my killer body from drum-corp!
I remember in HS that when I ran the mile-- my best time was something like 15min. so I guess I'm better than I was in HS-- but still suckier than I was in Jr Corp. |
