WOD = "Workout OF (the) Day"
by LN's WOD

previous entry: weight + paleo update + rock climbing

next entry: bottom-to-bottom squats and running. (I hate running)

Helen

06/14/2011

Yesterday's WOD was "helen"

it is the following:
3 rounds of:

  • run 400 meters
  • 21 kettle-bell swings (X weight)
  • 12 pull ups

    ------------
Back during my basics-- this was on "day 3". My time was 19:48 and I lifted a 15lb KB and did really-high jumping pull-ups. (on a 26" box)

Yesterday I knocked about 6 minutes off that. (13:55)!
I also swung a 25lb KB and took 6 inches off my box. (so I'm working harder to get a body-weight pullup... I -THINK- I'm about 3 weeks away from getting it.)

    ------------

I'm also down to 184.2lbs--- which isn't bad since I've been cheating off my diet like a crazy mofo. (pizza/beer on saturday. Sandwich/beer yesterday.) But I feel like I'm losing inches, even if the scale doesn't budge-- so I'm ok with that.

Dude, you rock. You're going to look amazing at the beach next to my flabby gut!

RYC: I'm at a point where I'd rather see if Paleo can bring the body back into balance, rather than infecting myself with something to keep my immune system "busy". I'd rather cure Crohn's (and migraines and autism and MS) with a nice ketogenic diet if I can. Seems to make more sense. But I have read about and considered it (also fecal transplants, ew.).
I haven't listened to that one yet. I'm a big fan of Robb Wolf, and Angelo Coppola, so that's who I mostly listen to. Robb has the biology and science down, and it's fascinating.
Nightshades are anything genetically related to the nightshade plant, so that's tomatoes, potatoes, peppers and eggplants. I think that's it. It's fine for healthy people to eat, usually (some are more poisonous than others, which is why you don't eat raw potatoes), but once your body has started to break down into autoimmune responses it's best to cut them out, so I'm told, until you've healed all the damage and brought the inflammation under control. Then you can add them back in and see how you respond.
I went on a carb binge last weekend, and it destroyed me. *laugh* I mostly did it because it's much cheaper to eat bird food than real food and I'm so many shades of broke it's not even funny. *sigh* Isn't there any other kind of booze you like that isn't full of gluten?
