kettle bell ladder

12/13/2011

I love kettlebell swings. Actually, anything with a kettlebell makes me happy. It's a really simple concept (cannon ball with a handle) that has so many exercises in 1---without being the whole "I LIFT WEIGHTS! I AM STRONG! RAWR!"

Kettle bells are also AMAZING for your sexin' muscles. Mainly because you have to pop your hip/open the hips during the swings. A friend of mine who dated a kettle-bell-swinger (is that a title?) said that while he wasn't as well endowed as most people she's been with, he was able to thrust well enough to keep her amazingly satisfied. Anyway, it's exercise, right? Can't hurt to be good at stuff even if I don't have the parts to fully take advantage of it's benefits.

American Kettlebell swings
Goblet Squats (holding the kettlebell and squatting)
Reverse Lunges (while holding the KB).

The max time was 15min. I finished all except the last 14 reverse lunges....

my legs HURT today.

1) all depends on your budget!
2) start with 10-15lbs (whatever you are comfortable with).
3) don't do more weight until you know what you're doing.
4) know that kettlebells won't make you drop weight---but it will build muscle and strength. (turning fat into muscle).
5) diet (for me, anyway) helped the most with losing weight.
6) go to a 2nd-time-around sporting good store (re-selling sports eq) to get your weights. (they are cheaper and if you stick with it-- you'll be "out-growing" your weights quickly.
7) a lot of these exercises (not swings) can be done with hand-weights, too. (or anything, really.)
8) I wouldn't advise using a milk-jug, but i've seen it done.
9) note: for me-- working out at home was, while the most financial option, didn't work for me. I had no motivation at all. It wasn't until i was dropping 150$ for a gym membership that i forced myself to go (CAUSE THAT'S A LOT OF MONEY!) and then I started seeing results. if you have good will-power, this may not be an issue, though.
