world

12/01/2009

I lived inside a castle; I spent months cementing brick on brick,
digging a moat and carving high windows.
I spent months alone, alone inside a castle, and I was safe.
Safe from words, ideas, anything that would hurt.
I built a castle to withstand the toughest of sieges.
But all it took was a second, hardly time to blink,
to bring each stone crumbling down.
All it took was your smile.
And while I was trying to sort through the ruin,
you stepped inside and wrapped your little heart around mine,
like a blanket around my shoulders.

I have no words to tell you that your palms are the Pacific Ocean,
and your shoulders the Atlantic.
Your blue eyes are the Galapagos and your
teeth are the Poles.
And your brain, your heart, your smile:
each its own continent.
Your words and ideas are stars, nebulas, entire galaxies,
surrounding me.

Maybe when I am old, I will think I was foolish.

Oh... without a doubt... It's OK. We all have the same thought eventually.
