I cannot believe how insensitive some people can be! John and I have been waiting with bated breath for information on when his Pops funeral would be. Well first let me explain that Pops was John's step grandfather, but had been in the family for so long that he was basically blood (since John was a little boy). Anyway, so finally we got tired of waiting and called Pops family for the details only to find out that they had already buried the man. They did not have a funeral, or a viewing, they didn't have him embalmed or dressed or anything they just stuck him in a pine box and buried him. I should at this point explain how Pops' blood related family treated him. Pops' son owns a few trailers, land and a cabinet business. He rented out all the trailers he owns and has his father living in a tiny pull behind camper in the back yard of one of the rented trailers. The family did not visit him while he was alive and made it perfectly clear to John's mom (who cared for him) that if they got rights over him they would immediately put him in a nursing home. So needless to say when Pops' died they could have cared less, and because of such they deprived his loving family members of the ability to find some closure by getting to say goodbye. We can't even find out exactly where they had him buried!!! I have been upset about this horrible news all day long, and John, being his normal self is acting like all is well in the world while he silently hurts. I love John but I am worried for his mental health, if he doesn't let some of these emotions go they will eventually build up on him and explode!!
Well I have been wanting to share my news that Todd and I are now officially divorced, and seeing as how there is nothing further I can do about Pops' I believe it is okay to tell the story now. To be honest there really isn't much to tell, but to me that is AWESOME! I'll start from the beginning of the proceedings and walk you through the whole ordeal. First of all I went to Staples and bought my own divorce papers for about $30 dollars. It's a lot of work looking through and making sure your following all the rules but in the end its WORTH IT. Anyway, I filled out the information on the worksheet took the disk that had the paper work on it to my grandmothers, typed out the information and printed it. Todd was quite willing to sign the papers he even took me into town to have it notarized ($10 for the entire thing) and filed ($80) but I had to pay him gas money ($7). We had to wait 30 days for our court date to be decided, it was finally set for May 28th but the time was to be sent to me in the mail. Well Monday I got the letter in the mail saying that our court appearance was scheduled for 1:30 on the 28th. Immediately I called Todd's cell and left a message telling him the time of the court appearance and asking him to call me back and let me know that he'd received the message and that he would be able to go. The night before court (Wednesday night) he calls to tell me that he plans on coming but only if I can provide him with some gas money. He of course knew that I was completely broke and would be unable to come up with the money, I was MAD as a hornet! Then as he's telling me this he goes on to tell me that he's not positive that he has that day off at work and that he's not willing to call out to come to court with me. It took everything I had not to shout "WHERE WAS THIS ATTITUDE ABOUT KEEPING A JOB WHILE WE WERE STILL TOGETHER?!" I mean come on he's had over 30 days to tell his boss, "hey by the way I need May 28th off" to top it off after 20 minutes of arguing he breaks down and tells me that he doesn't even have to be at work until 4!! So he comes and spends the night on my couch 'just in case I came up with the money' finally I break down and call my grandmother, she sent me the gas money ($10). Well about two hours before time to leave Todd starts trying to convince me of all these horrible things that John had supposedly done. Little did he know that I was already aware of the rumors and knew the truth, it was at that time I realized in his own subtle way he was trying to change my mind. I then went to my neighbor and one of my best friends Maron. Maron is a BIG guy and because of such he is physically intimidating, I begged him to come with me for moral support and being the good friend that he is he was all for it. And just for shits and giggles we decided to take his car so that Todd wouldn't get a cent of gas money from me lol. Anyway we reached the court house at one o'clock, court started at 1:30, the judge called us up to the stand at 2:00 said 'you both agree? are there any children or property agreements?...no?....okay then' signed the Final Divorce Decree and sent us down to the clerks office. The clerks gave Todd and I both a certified copy of the Final Decree and said 'congratulations you are officially divorce' immediately I turned to Todd and said 'God am I glad I got rid of you' then with a huge grin on my face I bounced my way back to the car and rode home in triumph...it was great!! We were out of the court house at 2:22 the whole thing didn't even take an hour. And for those of you who are filing for uncontested divorce I highly recommend that you do the paper work yourself. The kits come with all the information and worksheets that you need. In all for gas and everything I paid $137 dollars for my divorce. If you hire a lawyer to do an uncontested divorce for you the lowest you are going to pay is $450 dollars!!! I saved a little under $320 dollars by doing it myself...I am the bomb LOL j/k. Anyway I'm gonna go now, outtie and caio!!
