Meeting with the adoptive parents again.

The doctor appointment.
I have another doctor appointment today; and last week I told my adoption counselor I would like the adoptive parents to be at the appointment to hear the heartbeat.

I'm a little bit nervous, and a lot excited, about meeting them at the hospital and having them hear his little heartbeat.
I did let my adoption counselor know that I didn't feel comfortable having them in the room while I get my other medical things done. Heck, I didn't even want my mom in the room with me while they did the first set of tests.

But I guess my adoption counselor said that the adoptive father told her when it comes to anything more personal than hearing the heartbeat, he is outta there, and he would be waiting in the waiting room.

It means so much to me that they are happy and excited to meet with me at the hospital to hear the heartbeat.
My adoption counselor also said that they want to take me out to dinner afterwards so we can connect more.
And this kind of thing is exactly what I wanted when I decided on adoption.
The connection with the adoptive parents is really making me feel confident.
I tell everyone I know that if I had to hand the baby over to a cold faced couple who don't even seem excited, I wouldn't do it. I could not go through with the adoption and could not live with the decision for the rest of my life.

But, I was told that when the adoptive mom was called and informed that I had definitly picked them as the adoptive parents, she started screaming with excitement, and started crying. Then she called her husband.
And that kind of reaction to everything is what makes me feel awesome about the adoption.

Dinner with the adoptive parents.
I have no idea where we are going to eat, but the adoptive parents did mention they wanted to take me out to dinner after the appointment.

My dad is so excited about them taking me out, and trying to connect with me.
He has been asking me how I feel, and if I'm looking foward to the dinner and doctor's appointment all week long.

I have been nervous about it, but very excited.
I'm planning on going over the basics with the hospital plan and semi-open adoption plan to make sure they are okay with everything.

Thanks for visiting.

Uh yeah, no need to have anyone around when certain tests are being done! hehe It's nice of you to let them be present for the heartbeat though.

It's good to know not only that you're causing that excitement to people but that those people will be taking care of your child.

I hope the dinner goes well!

I've only read this entry...I should go back and find out more to your story, but I just wanted to say - I think it's an incredibly strong thing what you're doing...with the whole adoption thing. I think it's an incredibly hard decision...but your going to bring so much joy to the adoptive families lives..and I commend you on that...I think it's incredible. I wish you all the best

i'm so glad the adoptive family is excited, because i agree with you,it would feel so much harder to give up the baby if they just seemed like 'meh, okay?'
