A parade and fathers day

06/19/2011

First, thank you to all my bloop buddies who commented about my lac of a special lady. I wish I could say that it helps but it doesn’t. I think, except all but one of my favs are younger than me and some, much younger. It doesn’t make me feel any less lonely.
There are random and not so random things that I’m like hmm I wish I had someone to go do that with.

Yesterday I went to Boston with 1 million of my closes friends as we selebrated the Bruin’s winning the Standley Cup with a parade. That went from the Boston TB Gardin and ended at coply Place.

I went with my twin brother, his wife, our younger cousin and Lucic, Justin’s and Lindsay’s dog. (named after one of the bruin’s players) He was even wearing a Lucic doggy jersey.

It was very hot for me. It was 80 degrees, humid and we were packed in. I couldn’t even sit on the ground it was so packed. The parade started about 11AM. To make it easy on everyone, they all slept over. We had left the house at 7:10 AM and were at Government center at 7;45, where we stood where we stood for about 5 hours. (My arthritic knees didn’t appreciate that) One of Lindsay’s former coworkers met up with us too. A nice, out going fun lady.

When we were waiting for the parade to start, there was busses packed with police officers and later were the polce men on their bikes clearing the path, making sure there was no cars in the parade’s route. Then they came through again and put the baracades ups. Every time anything was out of the ordinary, the croud cheered. Lol. There were people who were throwing around toilet paper, confedy fell from the office buildings and beach balls were being hit around. I got hit in the head twice and got to hit it once with my hand. One time a beach ball landed on the street and a police officer grabbed it and was going to pop it with a knife, the croud booed and then he threw it back into the croud and the croud went crazy. Since it was so hot there, every time a hellacopter flew over head we cheered because it blocked the hot sun from us. .

A lot of people before, after and during the waiting for the parade were talking about, taking pictures of and patting Lucic the dog with his jersey on. One guy said that he should be the Bruin’s mascot.

The parade passed by us about 11;30. The players, coaches, owner, trainers, etc etc etc, were riding on duck boats. These vehicals that could go on land and water and was used during WWII.

Justin would call out the names of the players who were on the boats as they passed by in front of us.

It was fun and I am glad I could say “I was there” but at the end of standing for 5 hours, my arthritic knees were killing like Manson and my feet were burning like a 4th of July Bon fire.

HAPPY FATHER’s Day

I Posted on my best friend’s fb page

I was going to buy you a Father's day card ...
A. I am too cheap to buy you a $0.99 card at Wallgreens.
B. I know you would not appreciate it and just open the card to pretend to read it.
C. A and B.
Happy father's day

His response: this post is good enough, i didn't even read the whole thing

I got a card for my father. My family is getting together for a BBQ at 5. My twin will probably be doing the grilling. It will be nice.
He’s at the beach with my mother. I am sure the nice weather is a lovely father’s day gift from nature.

The Red Sox honored the Bruins today.
Before the game, the Bruins road on the duck boats around the outfield. They then all got out and walked to the pitching mound and the red sox players came out of the dougout and lined up at home plate (I visualize a redrover game) and the Bruin’s tossed out the seremonial first pitch to the red sox players. They had the captin of the Bruins throw to the captin of the Red Sox. Then each walked down the line congratulating the Bruin players. I could not imagine being the Bruin’s 19 year old rookie, Tylor Segon. This doesn’t happen every year rookie.

Sounds like an awesome but hot parade! I've actually never been to a parade, it's sad, especially since there's usually one like 5 miles from me, but I am always working so I can't see them when they have them.

I need to get back to writing like this...it would help me out. Short blurbs to start are well.....a start. As for taking time for myself, right now it seems a little impossible. But busy is good I think. I just want to remember to deal with the feelings of loss and make sure I'm not shoving them off or down. That didn't work well with my Mom's passing...not well at all.
