thank you, a list, a poem

01/05/2010

Thank you, thank you to all my bloop friends for being there for me.
I really appreciate the notes from the last entry.
Instead of complaining that I'm bored and I have nothing to do.
I should appreciate what I do have. I can put on sports or music on my XM radio. I can listen to my own music on my computer. I can write or read poetry. I can run on my tredmill or work out in my room. I can even pick up the phone and call friends. I talked to my NJ cousin before dinner and my best friend later in the night. I think what I needed was just that. To pick up a phone and talk to someone. To hear someone's actual voice and not my speach program. Although it is not the ideal company, I think I'll ask my mom if she wants to go to the trivia night at the Chinese restaurant up the street from me on Wednesday night. I enjoyed it last week for the few minutes we were there . (Thank you Jodi for that idea, to think out side of the box)

My cousin asked me to make a list of 10 things that "make me happy"

1. listening, talking, attending etc about baseball
2. Being with my twin and his wife and my close friends. On occasions, other members of my family
3. Listening to music, spacificly, bon jovi.
4. listening to and talking about football or basketball.
5. Eating Chinese food.
6. Playing Monopoly and other board games
7. Gambling, spacificly, playing the slot machines
8. Helping people and getting a "thank you" from them.
9. Mint tea
10. Cuddling

A letter to my cousin
2-5-10

Hey, cousin, how are you?
I thought of what you said and It’s true
I have lived a great life
Sure I don’t have a job, a house or a wife
In time, everything will be alright

I am a lucky guy
I can’t lie
I have a great family, a few great friends
Who would be there for me till the end

How many people do you know
Who has been to every musical show?
I have been to over 100 concerts in the last 15 years
I know, I know, that’s not fair

I have also done my share of traveling, as you know
Miami, Tampa and San Diego
Detroit, Cleveland and Chicago
Baltimore, DC and Montreal
Philadelphia, Bronx and the Queens, but all of that’s just to see baseball

I have gone on rides with Mickey Mouse in Orlando three times
I gambled in Atlantic city, I’ve won more than a dime
I went to Woodstock 99
In Cooperstown, I was feeling fine
College spring breaks down at South beach
Spring training games wasn’t much of a reach

I am also blessed with this great memory
I have been fortunate to have been able to obtain three college degrees
I don’t know many, who can say the same
However I’m not tamed
I want my doctorate degree
Hopefully someone will offer me a grant or scholarship so it will be free

When I sing you a sad song
Please, don’t let me go on for too long
Remind me how fortunate I am
Tell me to put on Bon Jovi, listen to him jam
XM 175 has baseball
I could just write a poem, that’s all

I liked that poem, it made me smile. I definitely need to make a list, it looks like it would also cure my case of the blues. Just to remember what amazing things I have available to me in my life.
