I liked the tree style, it was easier to see who was replying to who

It wouldn't be much to incorporate, the code is already there. However, I believe that the tree style allows drama to grow easily. It also drastically reduces the evolution of a topic. Therefore I have decided against offering a tree view option.

And of course - that was me. lol

It just seems very difficult to go back and read the conversation now. Clicking the 'go to reply' links in the reply messages the system gives us doesn't even take us to the reply right now

That's weird, it should. It might take a little for the system to work out the positions of the posts.

Oh wow, confusing. I was just in the forum about the police officer punching the 17 year old in the face, and I have no idea what's going on. Nothing makes sense, because instead of seeing what person B responded to person A, you see person A, B, C, D and then 3 or 4 posts in a row of person B responding to various people, but it makes no sense because it isn't linked to anything specific. Maybe I'm not understanding how it works, but it doesn't make any sense to see one person's response and have no idea who/what they're responding to :/.

I love the chronological ordering. However, I have to agree with Lauren, it's confusing. Other forums I've participated in allow automatic quoting, and such an option would be extremely handy now.

It's impossible to keep track of who's replying to who now. There is now no way of knowing which post each new post is replying to. Sure, you'll reduce drama by making the forums impossible to follow, but then you'll also reduce intelligent debate and interaction, yo.

Steve, maybe you should return it back to tree style, until you implement a quote function and/or the option of changing it? Just a thought.
