-20 and counting and other stuff.

05/28/2009

I am happy to announce (again for those of you on FB) that I have lost 20 pounds so far. Fiber one and popcorn are really doing a job on cleaning me out. Now I do eat other things so dont get in a tizzy but I have basically cleaned my house of bad for me things.

With the exception of a small container of Hummus and a box of wheat thins I ate on Tuesday I have been rather good.

I paid for that on Tuesday night because I had to pee like 4 times during the night to get rid of all the sodium.

Hey Gen, can you teach me how do to those nifty bar things you have on your layout, it would surely snazz mine up a bit.

This weekend we made Maxine a proper kennel. Her other one was just a dirt floor and the flies were TERRIBLE. There was no safe way to get in and get the caca out so having had enough Mike and I set out to make her a proper kennel.

At first we thought we were going to have to buy bags and bags and bags (80+ total) of cement and mix it and pour it and even it out by our selves. Then his brother reminded us that we have a concrete company right in our very own little city. We called them and it was about half the price of doing it ourselves and almost none of the back breaking work.

So they came last Friday about 4:00 in the afternoon. Boy was Friday a crazy day.

I called Conrock at 8 in the morning and explained what we needed. They said they THOUGHT they could work us in (seeing as how it was last minute) but that it would probably be around 2pm. Well Mike did not get off work until 12 so 2 was pushing it getting the form and everything done. BUT we went ahead and told them to try to work us in anyway.

Mike got down here lickity split and got the area leveled (with much cussing I might add). Then we went to build the form. His original plan was to dig down about 4" and burry a form in the ground to give it added stability. Now we did not have time to do that so I had to go to the lumber yard and get some 2x4's that were 10 feet long.

THEY BARELY FIT IN MY MONTERO SPORT. I mean it was windshield to hatch literally.

So we got that back then the nails that I had purchased to nail the damned thing together were too short. I was originally going to have 1" boards now I had 2" boards.

So another trip to the store to get some nails.

We got it done. They called and said it would be about another hour or so around 2 WHEW.

Breathing room. Around 3 they said the truck was on its way back and would be at our house in about 45 minutes.

Mike decided he was horny so we came in and had a quickie. Well, he had a quickie and he made up for my LACK of a quickie on Saturday and Sunday.

Anywho...

The guy shows up and it was one of the other parents from one of my son's baseball teams. Tball to be exact. He helped Mike spread it so I did not have to. Knowing people does have its priviledges.

So the pad got poured, we were good to go. Here are some before and after pics.

Please notice behind the beautimous doggie that there is a dirt floor and trash in her pen where things would blow in.

Another before picture. The other problem we had was that she could jump over the fence because of her old dog house. That and she dug under the fence and would escape. She was a regular houdini. She had even figured out how to flip the latch on the pen. So she had to be chained as well as fenced and it hurt her feelings. Not as much as being captured by the dog dude and put to sleep but hurt nonetheless.

The first bit of concrete going down...

Mike and the guy spreading it out. That is her old dog house in the foreground. It had a very high pitched roof.

Maxine in her new kennel. Now the concrete has just been sprayed off so it is not "wet" it is just wet. Her new doggie mansion is over there and she has just decided that this pen is unescapable. She is a bit sad but comfy as there are no flies eating her ears and such.

Not bad for a days work.

Maxine is so beyond gorgeous!!!! What a cutie! She will learn to love her new lil area! Even if she can't get out. Before we got Floyd, Byron was a real little escape artist!
