I changed jobs back in the late ‘80s and the new company assigned each employee an ID badge with a four digit employee number. The company had been around long enough that they cycled through all their employee numbers from 0001 to 9999, and so they were recycling through them again. I shared an office with an Electrical Engineer who was hired the week before me, he was Employee Number 0001 and I was Employee Number 0002. He always joked about us being Jobs and Wozniak, who were famous for being Employee Number 0001 and 0002 at Apple.
