So, your textbooks are yours, they don't belong to the school? Up until college in the US the books are the school's, they issue them out on the first day, and then in younger years kids have to do covers on them because it helps to protect the book, so that they'll last longer, from all the abuse they get lol. So how come you have to cover them if they belong to you?

You totally don't have to stop being that way when you grow up. You shouldn't stop being that way! It's important to know when to be mature and responsible and everything, but to be truly happy people still need to be able to get silly and let loose and have fun, too! =)

And yep, they belong to me. The school gives us a booklist, then somewhere in the holidays, we have to go to school and get my books (but of course we have to pay). We won't get some of them straightaway, and those books would probably be given to us somewhere in the year (when it's the appropiate time).

And thanks for the tip, yo! ^u^ I did think afterwards that whether I'm an adult or not, the best way to live life is to be me!

It's the second book. Boy: Tales of Childhood is the first, followed by Going Solo about the later part of his life. I'm not going to read about his adult life before I read about his childhood. Yeah, technically it's not "necessary," but it's out there so why do it out of order? I never read series out of order unless it's an accident and I didn't realize beforehand that it was part of one. heh.

lol well, like I said, when you go to the first day of school for the year, in each class the teacher issues out the books, and in the front there's a stamp that has columns for name, year, and the status of the book (new, like new, good, bad, etc), which you write in when you get it, and the teacher has a list with all that stuff too (each book has a # in the top of the stamp also). At the end of the year, the books are turned back in, and they compare the status with how it was reported before, so if anyone has done a bit of damage to the book then they have to pay for that. The books belong to the school, the students just "borrow" them for the year.

Your personality stays the same when you grow up. Like, it develops and grows, but should stay basically the same.

Some people suppress parts of their personality though. They can lose their craziness because they lose their enthusiasm for life if they go through difficult experiences. Some people get depressed. Obviously the longer you live, the higher the number of difficult experiences you're likely to have. Losing your enthusiasm and getting depressed isn't an inevitable result of difficult experiences though - if you develop good resilience skills, you can reduce your risk of that happening.

Also, some people lose their craziness because they are tired. The older you get, the less energy you have, and you have to focus this energy on things that really matter - like earning money to live, looking after yourself, and looking after your kids if you have kids. But you can manage your energy levels to some extent - eating well, exercising, getting enough sleep, etc.

So losing your craziness isn't inevitable! But it's wise to look after yourself, both physically and psychologically. And remember, as an adult you'll be in a lot of very different situations, and it won't always be appropriate to be silly in each situation - as is probably the case now for you, actually. If you're in a maths lesson and your teacher is explaining a mathematical rule to you, for instance, you're not going to jump on the table, poke your tongue out and shout 'knickers!' You might have done that at 5 years old, but now you're old enough to know it's not appropriate in that situation. Same in adulthood - there are situations where you're silly and situations when you're not silly.

I work with kids, so I get to be silly a lot - but I also have to be very responsible at the same time. More responsible than I'd have to be in an office job, for instance, because I have to constantly look out for the kids' health and safety, as well as be a role model and help them learn. But it's still fun - well, not always fun, but then life is never fun every moment. You must find that in your own life - like, there are difficult moments, frustrating moments, tiring moments, etc. But the overall experience is enjoyable. And it's rewarding, to be doing something meaningful, that helps people, and has a positive effect on their lives. Having responsibility isn't necessarily a bad thing - you could see it as a privilege. You are given responsibility if you are trusted.

Well, I supposed you're right. Also, what you mentioned in the last paragraph? That's exactly the reason I don't want to be a teacher. I am not a good role model, and I'm pretty naive when it comes to kids. Gosh, I still can't believe how I let that Primary 1 kid at on the bus search through my bag!!! I told my father about it and he said it's not my fault if I scold her, so now actually, I don't know if it's bad, but I'm waiting for the next time she disturbs me then I can really let out my temper! I remember, though, when I was younger (maybe when I was P2), one of my friends, who was also my classmate, made me angry on the bus, and I slapped her (I don't know if it hit her, I only felt like the tips of my fingers brushing her cheek LOL). Then, her sister came and gave me a scolding and lecture on goodness-knows-what. I just stared out of the window and ignored her so I didn't know a single thing she said. When I came home, I told my father (who was cleaning our fans) and he just said, "Good! Good!"

And no, I don't mean I'm that crazy! I wouldn't have dared to do that to my Maths teacher. But really, I'd get super mega-huge problems when I grow up? I mean, what if I was a wise, gifted, hard-working person (for example)? I'd still get problems? o.O

Also, d'you mean that I'm not the only crazy person around here?!???!? Everyone on Earth has some craziness in them??? I mean, the way you wrote your comment made it sound like that. ^^"

Haha - craziness isn't as unusual as you think! But a lot of people are driven to suppress it because a desire for conformity is also very common. Or they get tired and/or discouraged.

People get difficulties in life regardless of how hard they work. I mean, gosh, you must know that - you read lots of books, including adult books! The wise, gifted, hard-working characters don't have problem-free lives, do they! It's just part of life. Of course, good and wonderful things happen too, but so do horrible and difficult things. Some people have relationships that don't work out and this can cause a lot of pain and anger. They might be treated badly. They might have difficult experiences at work, they might lose their jobs, people in their families might get ill or die, etc. All these are regular sorts of difficulties people can encounter, and sometimes it can dampen people's spirits and suppress their craziness. Of course, difficult stuff can also happen when you're a kid, but the thing is, the longer you live, the more chance there is for more difficult things to happen. And also, of course, more chance for more good things to happen. You get both good and bad in life.

And yep, kids do defend their siblings. As a kid, I would go and yell at other kids who hit my sisters. You probably would too if you had a younger sibling. Or you'd defend your best friend if someone hit them or was mean to them. Not just in childhood, but in adulthood too. People look out for the people they care about.

Yeah, I do know that. I don't know why I asked that question. ^^" Perhaps I justwanted to know more (probably).

And yeah, I do defend my friends. My temper makes me fiercer. But it depends, though. Sometimes, I do try to be civilised and try to sort things out instead of just yelling. But most of the time, I just quarrel. ^^"

But, I don't know, it was so long ago, but I think she was making fun of my father. Not sure.

Oh, and if you were thinking, my father does not encourage fights. He only approved because it wasn't my fault in the first place (I think, but she made me angry anyway). I remember that one of my friends from the other class TOOK MY SHOES WITHOUT ASKING TO THE TOILET!!!! I remember this clearly because it happened this year. Reason? Well, I don't know the reason but my guess is that it's 'cause my shoes are pretty easy to wear; you just have to slip in your feet. I found this out from Maid. So I stormed to the toilet and when I got there, she was just getting out. At first, I yelled at her but afterwards, I softened and thought that I would just tell her not to do it again if she apologised. Well, guess what!!! She did something totally infuriating!! She just said, "Whatever!", kicked off my shoes, and walked away. I was so furious, that I quickly wore my shoes, ran after her, and pulled her scarf! And then she pulled my scarf back. So I simply pulled hers harder!!! Then she managed to escape. GRRR!!! All I saw was red. Blind rage. You know, I'd probably done something worse, except that I could get into Juvenile Court (LOL, just kidding), or at least expelled if I did.

Good thing I don't know karate. :3
